I need to use the Audio2Face app urgently, so it would be great if this get resolved really quick.
Thank You

Hi @jimit-modi ,
Is this the first time you used Audio2Face? Have you had any success in launching older versions or A2F or other Omniverse App like Create and Machinima?
Can you share the log file?
If you click the user icon on the top right forner of the launcher and go to settings, there’s an option there that brings you to the log folder, then go to Kit/Audio2Face/2021.3/

Cheers,
edy

Hi @esusantolim ,
Yes, I have used A2F App earlier also. And also tried installing the older versions of the A2F app, but that 2021.3.2 version was also crashing. And I am able to open and use the Create and View App.
I have attached the log file of A2F App here (28.4 KB).

HI @jimit-modi ,
do you remember which version of A2F you last find working?
Do you by any chance update your driver version prior to it stop working?
I see that you are using 511.65. I wonder if you can try 471.xx which is what I’m currently using.
I also see another graphic device Microsoft Basic Render Driver. Is it possible to disable it?

@esusantolim -
I am currently using Nvidia’s Tryegx server, provided by Nvidia itself.

I was able to use both 2021.3.3 and 2021.3.2 versions on the same system in early April. And we have also set up a virtual workstation on GCP, in which we are able to run the A2F correctly.

In the second week of April, the Tryegx server went into maintenance and before that only we were not able to launch the A2F app. So, basically from the end of 1st week of April, we are facing this launching issue.
And after maintenance, the drivers were updated in the Tryegx servers.

I have already tried downgrading the driver to 472.39 (as with this driver version, I am able to run the A2F app in the GCP vWS) but this thing also didn’t help in resolving the issue.

I am not sure, if it’s possible to do that.

Hi @jimit-modi ,
Sorry for the late reply. It definitely sounds like environment issue (esp driver or os), but you said it stops working just before any of the updates happened.
One thing I can think of is if you can delete the app and all the cache related to it.
My cache folder is here D:\ov\cache\Kit\102.1
(A2F is still on kit sdk 102.1 hence we want to try delete the 102.1 cache folder)
To locate this cache folder, try open Settings by right clicking the Omniverse System Monitor icon on system tray and choose Settings. Then go to the Cache tab. See if you have the cache path

Try reinstall a2f after deleting the 102.1 folder.

Hi @esusantolim -
We have already tried uninstalling the App and also have tried clearing the cache. But this didn’t help in resolving the issue. So, we also tried cleaning up the launcher without retaining the data. That also didn’t work.
Don’t know why this is happening and that too with A2F app.

Since it’s complaining about directx, the one possibility I can think of here is that the rendering kit SDK is not compatible with the installed driver esp when you say recent View and Create are running fine on the same setup.
Is downgrading driver version not an option?
A2F next release would be using the recent SDK that would be similar to what’s on Create and View today, it would be around June/July time release.

@esusantolim - Can you help me with which version of the driver should I downgrade to because I already tried downgrading to 472.39 version?
Also, we are having an NVIDIA Omniverse RTX-enabled workstation with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU and the driver version being 511.65. And on this system, A2F App is working fine.

I’m currently on 471.41 myself.
If other app like Create and Machinima is running on the same hardware spec and driver version, and then very likely there’s incompatibility between the sdk A2F is using to that configuration.
One other thing you can try to confirm this is to run A2F app with just the kit sdk without anything else by going to the kit folder in side a2f.
For example mine is installed here
image
then try run this file /kit/kit.exe (mine is this file D:\ov\lib\prod-audio2face-2021.3.3\kit\kit.exe)
If it runs and you can see the interface and viewport, then there’s something in the a2f extensions that bugged out.

I’ll ping internally if anyone has more idea to run it.

@esusantolim I was able to run the kit.exe from the A2F app installation directory. And also I was able to see the interface.

Also, it didn’t crash and it’s running for half an hour now.
Now, what could be done as I haven’t changed the driver version from 472.39.

@jimit-modi
That’s good news. Hopefully we can isolate the issue a lot better here.
Okay, next step :

  • open this file in text editor \apps\audio2face.kit (in the same relative folder to where you find the \kit\kit.exe)
  • edit line 45 from “omni.audio2face.wizard” = {} to “omni.audio2face.tool” = {}
  • edit line 276 by putting # like so #“omni.audio2face.wizard-0.1.0”,
  • save this file
    Try launch Audio2face from Launcher.
The edit we did above disable the a2f wizard extension where the default scene is loaded when the app started. Everything else should function the same.
Please give it a try, and share your log if it still crashes. :)

@esusantolim - It still crashed. PFA the log file of it.
kit_20220526_232924.log (290.4 KB)

Following is the crash log:
crash_2022-05-26_23-33-30_7872.txt (3.2 KB)

Thank for the log files @jimit-modi

Please try delete the whole Audio2face data folder here esp the user.config.json
C:/Users/divya.annaldas/AppData/Local/ov/data/Kit/Audio2Face/2021.3/user.config.json

Then launch the app. if crash still happens, let’s continue disabling more extensions one by one.
Here are a few more to test disabling, if you can try disabling them one at a time and try launch , and continue disabling the next and launch again. See if any of these helps. (Disable by adding # at the start of the line)

  • line 41 and 283 (omni.scene.visualization)
  • line 278 (omni.kit.charTransfer)
  • line 281 (omni.kit.viewportDraw)

@esusantolim - After deleting the data folder of Audio2Face app located at C:\Users\divya.annaldas\AppData\Local\ov\data\Kit\Audio2Face\, it again crashed on launching the app from the OV Launcher. Following is the content of the crash log file:

It still crashed every time after commenting/disabling the extensions one by one. And the crash log file still looks the same.

Here by attaching the Kit File \apps\audio2face.kit for your reference.

Hi @jimit-modi,

Did you ever get this resolved? Experiencing the same issue, but on a virtual workstation (not from a public cloud provider), with vGPU.
What GPU are you running on?

Thanks,

Koenraad

Hi @KoWillems - No, it’s still not resolved for me. And I am not facing this issue on a Public Cloud vWS, but on the EGX server with A40 GPU.

@jimit-modi interesting, I am testing on an RTX A6000, which is basically an A40, but actively cooled.
What GPU were you using on GCP?

@KoWillems - On GCP I am using T4 GPU, and it’s working fine there.

@jimit-modi
And you’re using the same drivers for both, from the “public” NVIDIA driver site (Official Drivers | NVIDIA)?
