Hello,
I am powering my Jetson Orin AGX 64GB using the DC Jack from a battery.
Mechanically, it seems the DC Jack does not accept the connector inside all the way through, and it seems, that slight movements of the connector can cause platform resets.
Can you please advise?
Thank you!!

Please check that your DC jack is compatible with the dev kit. Refer to Jetson AGX Orin Developer Kit Carrier Board Specification https://developer.nvidia.com/assets/embedded/secure/jetson/agx_orin/jetson_agx_orin_devkit_carrier_board_specification_sp
Hi, yes, it is compatible. 5.5/2.5mm.
Did you check this with the original power adapter?
The original power adapter is only USB-C, and it works, no issues. But if I’m using the DC Jack, it is unreliable (platform resets from time to time).
Is the reset coming from your battery by any chance? If it cannot provide the peak power needed by the dev kit it might reset the system due to undervoltage.
Please check with suitable AC adapter to rule out any issues with your battery.
Thank you. I will check and report. I’m still not sure though how to settle the fact that the issue is triggered by slight movements of the plug (please see video). This evidence pushes me to suspect the DC Jack itself, however unlikely that may sound. But I will double check with an AC adapter as you suggested, thank you for your support!
Switched to a mains-connected power supply, but unfortunately, I get the same result: slight cable movement trigger an abrupt Jetson power off, please see video:
Could you try with other DC Jack which inserts fully? Any reason why the DC Jack is not inserting fully? How much is the contact insertion/contact overlap length in mm?
It is impossible to insert the DC plug fully, since the DC Jack on the Jetson is not deep enough - that’s a mechanical property of the DC Jack I have on the Jetson: it is 8mm deep, where the DC plug is ~11mm long.
If the DC Jack is dodgy or out of spec/tolerance there is not much we can help with. Did you try DC Jack from other reputed vendors?
