Hello everyone,
I’am facing an issue with my residential project.
I have to add grass and tree and those object comes with opacity map for the leaves.
Whenever i click on “Enable Opacity” my object disappear… i tried everything :
- Enable “Fractional Cutout Opacity” in the Path Tracing render settings
- Playing with the opacity amount - it keeps behind fully invisible not matter the amount
- Switching Opacity Map Color Space
- Of course “Enable Opacity Texture” is on
- Playing wit Opacity Mono Source and Threshold.
- Putting Opacity map in Maya (it’s working), export as an fbx and then used “import and convert” in USD Composer but same issue, if i Enable Opacity it disappear…
- Tried with OmniPBR material and OmniSurface
I updated my graphic card drive (RTX 4090)
And everything i see online is about using the “Fractional Cutout Opacity” option but i didn’t work for me …
Wondering how is it working for you, i need to import those model to complete my project
Thanks for your time
PS: I can put only one embed media but the grass is supposed to be in the middle of the screen of course
If I were totally honest, I would take a look at our own Nvidia Tree Library. We have 100s of super high-quality photo real trees, grasses, bushes, flowers all in the Nvidia Assets browser. You can literally drop and drag them in and they are ready to go. We made these for high quality visualizations.
Hello,
Not quite the answer i was expected ^^"
I did use some of your assets but their is not enough choice for me (use to MaxTree and GlobePlant)
And i don’t find your grass realist, since it’s rectangular plane, it looks more like artificial grass and i am going to mix grass 3d model and ivy model to have a more natural grass…
Well in that case, let’s try to diagnose. First of all where is this asset from ? Second, it looks like it is not a true 3D model, but a 2D plane model using fake textures. These textures seem to be set at the wrong UV scale. Setting an opacity texture should work well. It should not be causing problems.
Can you attach the asset here and I can take a look. Send me both the raw external asset and the collected USD file for the problem asset.
Hello Richard,
I tried to import my grass in an empty project and it work very well. The problem seems to be with my project…
Can i send you the project and the grass to an email ?
If the grass imports well then save that to a usd file called “grass.usd” and then bring that into your main project. That is the power and the point of usd. Every asset can be its own usd file. You want to structure it as “project.usd” which references “building.usd” and “car.usd” and “landscaping.usd” etc. Nest the structure.
