Xavier dev kit complains about i2c, powers off during boot

I have a Xavier dev kit that won’t complete the boot process. It gets most of the way through, then powers off. One time it got as far as letting me log in before powering off, but usually the last message on the console is tegra-i2c 3160000.i2c: no acknowledge from address 0x74. Full console output is below.

I’m powering it with a laptop power supply that’s 19.5V and rated for 4.62A (90 watts).

Is this a dev kit, and did you flash it yet? If not flashed, then I’ll suggest doing so. If the carrier board is not the dev kit, then you’d also need to use the board support package on top of this from the carrier board manufacturer.

I edited the question to include that it is the dev kit. It’s been flashed; it had been working, sat on a shelf for a couple of months, and now this. In one attempt, it did get get as far as letting me log in before powering off.

I’ll also add above that I’m powering it off a laptop power supply that’s 19.5V and rated for 4.62A (90 watts).

The power supply is probably ok, but if you have another to try and see if it fails in exactly the same way it would help. If you are not concerned about losing content, then I’ll just recommend you flash again with a recent release. If you do not want to lose content, then you could first clone, and in fact a success at cloning would also be a good debug step since it would prove whether or not eMMC and basic function works. Instructions for cloning will depend on release used (if you know which release is currently on the Jetson, then go ahead and add this information too).

If there was external hardware added previously, e.g., cameras, then you might mention if that same hardware is present in the failed boot case.
