3ds Max converts meshes into triangles during export

Hello,

When exporting meshes from 3ds Max toUSDA format, the geometry is automatically converted into triangles.
Is there a way to preserve the original quad-based topology during the export process?

Are you using our 3dsmax Connector or the built in Autodesk USD exporter? Either way try both and see if there is a difference. Generally, though, I would think the answer would be no, because ALL meshes, in all “collapsed formats” result in triangles, not quads. That is just a common theme with exporting meshes. But put in this way… does it matter? Are you seeing the difference when not in wireframe mode?
