We are pleased to announce that the latest Blender Alpha is now on the Omniverse Launcher! An important change in this release is an entirely new version of the Universal Material Mapper add-on for converting between Blender materials and MDL, supporting more complex shader networks than was previously possible.
Features of this release and the importance of Blender in the OpenUSD ecosystem were discussed in a recent NVIDIA blog.
Changes in this release include:
- Conversion between Blender’s “generic” attributes and USD primvars.
- A refactor of the skeleton and blend shape IO, with bug fixes and optimizations.
- USD Preview Surface IO: Convert between UsdTransform2d and Blender Mapping shader.
