I’m working on convertering BIM files to USD files, but it seems that the extension CAD Converter doesn’t work well. When convertering small models, RVT files can be successfully done. But it will stuck when convertering linked rvt files, especially those big ones.
Is there any limitation when using CAD Converter? For example the model must be a single one?The size of the entire model or part of it must be smaller than a certain specific value?
For Revit files, especially large Revit files, do not use CAD converter directly. Either use of Revit Connector to export the files efficiently to usd, or just export the whole project to fbx and import the fbx file. We work very well with that.
Thank you Richard3D.
The Revit version of my rvt files are revit 2018, 2019, 2020, but the connector seems only support Revit 2022+. Does that mean that upgrading my models is necesscary to use the connector?
I am not sure. I guess you try to install the converter and find out. But again, the best way is to do a full collapse and export to a revit FBX, the same exact way you would export if for use with 3dsmax. Just go the FBX route.
