Isaac sim neucleus do not launch

Dear Isaac SIM,

I could not open the local Nucleus server since yesterday. I keep getting the following message.

I asked some of my friends and it seems they all have this same issue. We are in China. Is this a network issue or something?

Thanks.

Hi, are you running Isaac Sim from the Launcher? Have you installed Nucleus and does the browser pop up to a login window?

Yes, I run Isaac Sim from the Launcher and Necleus is installed and worked all the time until two days ago.
No, there is no login windowed poped up.

@mssonglin a few inquiries:

  • can you check the OV System Monitor and see if all the services are running?
  • in the ā€˜Exchange’ tab of the Launcher, are you also not able to access your localhost server?
  • have you tried using a different browser to see if the same issue persists?
  • were there any software/hardware/network security change two days ago that you know of?
  • do you mind uploading your Launcher log as well? there may be additional information that could help pinpoint the root of the problem.

Please also check if there is a Nucleus or Launcher update.
Got to http://localhost:3080/ to see the list of services. It should all be green.

Hi @Sheikh_Dawood , Thanks for the help.

  1. Nothing happened when I clicked ā€œcheck for updatesā€ in the menu bar of the Omniverse launcher.
  2. I checked the local server, and all lists of services are green.

The problem remains.

Hi @Simplychenable , Thanks for the help.

  • Yes, i checked the system monitor, all the services are running.
  • I seems can access to the localhost server in ā€œExchangeā€ tab.
  • No, i don’t think it relates to the browser as same situation happens inside Issac Sim application, where I can not access ā€œOmniverseā€ → ā€œlocalhostā€ → ā€œNvidiaā€ inside the ā€œContentā€ window.
  • No, I don’t think so.
  • When I try to open the Nucleus Log from http://localhost:3080/logs?app=Nucleus, the browser crashed. By the way, I do get the following notification :
ā€œUnable to check for updates to GDPR agreements and EULA.
You may need to inspect your internet connection and restart the launcher.
Try these troubleshooting links for Proxy configurations.ā€

But I don’t know how to solve this, either.

Thank you again!

thanks for the info! it does sound a strange behavior when you are able to access localhost inside the Exchange tab but not inside the OV app directly.

regarding the GDPR, what i’ve gathered is it’s related either to firewall/proxy or endpoint connections but there are other scenarios where it’s not the case. have you tried VPN to see if it’s anything related to your network connection?

Yes, I tried it both with or without VPN.

iirc, if it’s having issue connecting to localhost, you should be seeing a yellow ! icon next to localhost in Isaac Sim, correct?

if so, can you try right clicking on the localhost server and choose to log in? it should then open a new tab in your browser (hence my question) and see authentication prompts:

I actually have logged in. But the content of folder ā€œNVIDIAā€ does NOT load.

is it only on the NVIDIA folder? if it keeps spinning and not load, you could try quitting the OV launcher for good and restart the launcher. if you aren’t able to load the folder, that could be the GDPR issue and not being able to fetch the contents within.

and just in case, here’s the endpoints connectivity and ports information - Networking and TCP/IP Ports — Omniverse Nucleus latest documentation (thought you didn’t have this problem before, so i could only speculate some config/setting got changed somewhere somehow)

try to log out and then back in through the OV launcher and see if the wheels are still spinning.

I tried logout and login again in OV, but still no luck. :(

i will defer to the mods/devs to confirm whether region is related (though i don’t think China is being affected last i checked) and it seems like this thread will be better suited for the nucleus team over at the nucleus forum given it’s affecting across the board for you. if you didn’t get the browser login prompt, it could be problematic.

there are a few things i’d try, but would rather get some proper insight before we go any deeper with trial and error.

is it possible for you to upload your OV Launcher log?

you should be able to find it here - ~/.nvidia-omniverse/logs/launcher.log

Hi,

I am moving this topic to the Nucleus category for better visibility.

launcher.log (2.7 MB)

Yeah, there it is.

Also, I keep getting the following warnings. How to solve this?

my unprofessional opinion remains that you need to open up the endpoint connections listed in the TCP/IP page i linked earlier in the thread. the log has lot of failed fetch request like the following:

as you have noticed, the URL is part of the outbound connections; and if you haven’t tried to modify your config, it may be worth trying now. otherwise, i’ll defer to mods/devs such as @dlindsey

Hi @Simplychenable, I appreciate your kind help. I have checked all the links. They are all accessible to me when I click the link with my browser except ā€œhttps://index.launcher.omniverse.nvidia.com/ā€.
I also noticed the error in the log, I guess the Omniverse launcher does not use the proxy server I set in the Ubuntu system. I find this doc Using a Proxy Server — Omniverse Launcher latest documentation, but it seems only work for windows.

You are using the old Launcher. Can you please update to Launcher 1.9.8 and try again
