Isaac Sim crashes on Python examples, works fine on GUI

Detailed Description:
I installed NVIDIA Isaac Sim today on my system and started testing it. Running the GUI tutorials works fine, but when I run the Python tutorials (like controlling the robot via scripts), the program crashes and shuts down completely.

When I ran the Isaac Sim system checker, it reported VRAM in red, while RAM and system memory were orange. I expected the Python examples to run without crashing, but they immediately fail.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Install Isaac Sim on Ubuntu 22.04 with NVIDIA RTX 3060 Laptop GPU.

  2. Run GUI tutorials — these work fine.

  3. Run any Python example (e.g., robot control scripts).ex: ./python.sh standalone_examples/tutorials/getting_started_robot.py

  4. Isaac Sim crashes and shuts down the program.

Error Messages:

  • No specific error messages appear; the program closes immediately.

  • NVIDIA logs show high VRAM usage (~3.2 GB used by Isaac Sim at crash).

What I’ve Tried:

  • Verified GPU drivers are installed and up to date.

  • Ran GUI tutorials — they work fine.

  • Ran Python tutorials — crashes immediately.

  • Checked system memory and VRAM usage.

Related Issues:

  • None found that exactly match this problem, but I noticed VRAM warnings in Isaac Sim system checker.

Additional Context:

  • My computer uses hybrid graphics (Intel integrated + NVIDIA RTX 3060). I’m not sure if Isaac Sim is selecting the correct GPU for Python examples.

Try driver 575.

I have a system that meets all specs, but was crashing with driver 580 and working well with driver 575 (except for ROS2 Jazzy)

Not really sure what is going on here as it states 3060 laptop but the nthe compatibility checker says 4080?

The image that says 4080 is from infox22oo, another user trying to help, its not mine

Sorry for causing confusion. I was just trying to show that driver 575 meets requirements, with a comment that it is working better for me than driver 580.

I tried using the new drivers(575) but they didn’t worked much, I think ill use a HPC to run it as it may actually be that my computer just is not powerful enoughf for this, by any chance will you know how this can be do or if there are resources
