Topic Description

Isaac Sim GUI crashes immediately during startup after launching isaac-sim.bat.

Detailed Description

I recently installed Isaac Sim 4.5.0 on my Windows 11 laptop with an RTX 3050 4GB GPU. The installation completes successfully and the compatibility checker passes successfully.

However, when launching Isaac Sim using isaac-sim.bat, the application crashes during GUI startup and opens the Crash Reporter window. The issue occurs consistently.

I accidentally launched isaac-sim.xr.vr.bat initially, but later used the normal isaac-sim.bat launcher. The issue still persists.

I also cleared caches using clear_caches.bat, but the GUI crash still happens.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Isaac Sim 5.1.0 on Windows 11

  2. Run clear_caches.bat

  3. Run isaac-sim.compatibility_check.bat

  4. Compatibility checker passes successfully

  5. Launch isaac-sim.bat

  6. GUI crashes and Crash Reporter appears

Error Messages

GUI crash occurs during startup. Crash Reporter window opens automatically.

Additional Information

  1. RTX 3050 Laptop GPU with 4GB VRAM
  2. 16GB RAM
  3. Internal SSD installation
  4. Compatibility checker reports system is compatible
  5. Tried launching with:
    • isaac-sim.bat

    • isaac-sim.bat --/rtx/enabled=false

    • isaac-sim.bat --no-window

  6. Cleared caches before retrying

What I’ve Tried

  1. Cleared Omniverse caches
  2. Reinstalled Isaac Sim
  3. Used compatibility checker
  4. Disabled RTX using startup arguments
  5. Avoided XR/VR launcher
  6. Verified GPU compatibility

I Have used issac sim on my Laptop and it is working well on or before 2 months now i turned on yesterday night for my project work i dont know what happened, showing CRASH GUI… something and for your kind information Drivers are up-to-Date. Please Solve this or any troubleshooting options so i can try on my Laptop.
Thanking You SIR / MAM

Additional Context

I am trying to use Isaac Sim for robotic arm simulation and ROS2 workflows. Simple scenes are intended, not heavy warehouse or RTX rendering workloads.

Hi @P.H.R — sorry you’re hitting this. A few things to help narrow it down:

Could you clarify and share a bit more?

  • Exact Isaac Sim version: your post mentions both 4.5.0 and 5.1.0 — which one is actually installed?
  • NVIDIA driver version (nvidia-smi or NVIDIA Control Panel → System Information). The driver field in your report is blank, and several recent Windows GUI-crash reports have been resolved by a driver up- or downgrade — see for example Isaac Sim 5.1 GUI crash on RTX 5070 Ti — fixed by driver downgrade to 591.74.
  • The Kit log file from %USERPROFILE%\.nvidia-omniverse\logs\Kit\Isaac-Sim\<version>\ (attach the most recent kit_*.log). The last few hundred lines almost always pinpoint whether it’s a GPU/driver, USD asset cache, or extension load failure.

One important note on hardware: the RTX 3050 Laptop with 4 GB VRAM is below the recommended spec for Isaac Sim 5.x (8 GB+ VRAM is the practical minimum). If a recent Isaac Sim auto-update bumped you to a heavier version, that could explain why it ran two months ago but not today. You might try installing Isaac Sim 4.5.0 specifically and see if that runs.

Heads-up: Isaac Sim support is moving to GitHub — for fastest triage from the team, please also consider opening a GitHub Discussion or Issue with the same details + log attached.

its only 5.1.0 version i have done then …
ok i will try using 4.5.0

Thanks a Lot if the failure persists again i will post .. it.

Coming to driver version You can see… below
its: 596.36

when i installed 4.5.0
same thing was happening and then please look bottom:

could you please Tell me a other way … sir / mam

Hi, from your log it looks like you don’t have enough memory for your needs:

[rtx.scenedb.plugin] TLAS limit buffer size 7512601600
[rtx.scenedb.plugin] TLAS limit : valid true, within: false
[crash] A crash has occurred.

RTX needs ~7 GB VRAM for the acceleration structure; your RTX 3050 Laptop has 4 GB, so it overflows and crashes.

Here are a few things to try:

  1. Empty stage on launch: isaac-sim.bat --/app/content/emptyStageOnStart=true
  2. Cap the TLAS buffer: isaac-sim.bat --/rtx/scenedb/tlasBufferSize=2000000000
  3. Storm renderer instead of RTX: isaac-sim.bat --/renderer/active=storm

4 GB VRAM is below Isaac Sim’s 8 GB practical minimum. These flags may get the GUI open, but loading scenes or sensors might keep hitting the same limit.

You do not have enough VRAM. You are WELL BELOW the REQUIRED 16GB of VRAM.

You continued to install after our Checker told you it would not work

Thank You for the response but Issac 4.2.0 is working fine but ok i will try to upgrade the RTX…
Thanks a Lot
