Jetson AGX Orin 32G: SYS_VIN_MV

Hi Nvidia team (and trumany),

I’ve searched for and read 50+ threads regarding the SYS_VIN_HV and SYS_VIN_MV Power consumption, I understand they are different by the use case.

Considering there isn’t a tool available to evaluate these two rails’ power by use case, the only helpful answer I’ve found is screenshot below.

I assume SYS_VIN_HV varies largely with use case since it is for CPU/GPU/CORE/CV, but SYS_VIN_MV must vary less on the use case.

With that said, we just want to know MV consumption, Can you confirm roughly (just as our reference and peace of mind) what you think is the upper boundary of MV power draw? Realistically and not the 6A tolerance value. Please confirm what edili1983 has mentioned above is accurate

You can use Jetson Power GUI for that. Jetson Orin Nano Series, Jetson Orin NX Series and Jetson AGX Orin Series — Jetson Linux Developer Guide documentation

We don’t have such boundary released. It could be less than 10w in general, but for hardware design, the 6A is the tolerance that should be guaranteed.

Hardware is constrained and we are unable to design for 6A. Design can handle surges or spikes sure, and we don’t need to know gauranteed maximum, but realistic value like 5W/10W etc. Power GUI will just show ~5W, how much safety factor is reasonable?

That would be ok. Better to get the value based on your real use case. As said, in general it is < 10w.
