I am trying to flash JetPack 6.2 onto my Jetson AGX Orin 32GB Developer Kit using NVIDIA SDK Manager.
My setup:
Host OS: Ubuntu 22.04
Device: Jetson AGX Orin 32GB Developer Kit
JetPack Version: 6.2
SDK Manager: Latest version
Issue:
The Jetson enters Recovery Mode successfully and is detected by my Ubuntu host as an NVIDIA APX device. SDK Manager also detects the board correctly.
However, when the flashing process starts, it fails with the following error:
“The connected Jetson device is not ready for flash.”
What I have already tried:
Used multiple USB-C cables (data cables)
Tried different USB ports
Re-entered Recovery Mode several times
Restarted both the host PC and the Jetson
Confirmed that SDK Manager detects the board
Despite these steps, the flashing process always fails with the same error.
NVIDIA Customer Care advised me to post here for assistance from the Jetson support team.
Could someone please help me identify the cause of this issue?
Scroll down to the section that reads as follows and if your Orin boots let it boot normally and
Note
Your AGX Orin Developer Kit may come with older firmware and an older L4T BSP version pre-flashed (e.g., L4T r35.x / JetPack 5.x). We recommend completing the first-boot Ubuntu setup from eMMC first, then updating to the latest version — currently L4T r39.2 (JetPack 7.2) — using Jetson ISO.
Read and follow the next section titled:
Update BSP with Jetson ISO
Unfortunately, my Jetson AGX Orin does not boot into Ubuntu, so I am unable to complete the first-boot setup or follow the “Update BSP with Jetson ISO” steps.
Could you please advise on how I should proceed in this case?
If on Windows search app store for and install Balena Etcher and use it to burn jetsoninstaller-r39.2.0-2026-06-01-23-53-13-arm64.iso to usbstick.
If on an Ubuntu computer sudo apt install usb-creator-gtk
Then run usb-creator-gtk
Click ‘other’ browse to and select jetsoninstaller-r39.2.0-2026-06-01-23-53-13-arm64.iso and select your usbstick.
Insert the USB stick in the Jetson and power it on. When the NVIDIA logo splash screen appears, press F11 (boot menu) or Esc (UEFI setup), then pick the USB stick as the boot device.
Hit enter to install Jetpack 7.2.
When it is complete reboot Thor.
It should run oem config and let you create userid, hostname, password.

Based on the provided context, I found a similar issue reported in the community solutions. The error “The connected Jetson device is not ready for flash” is often related to an unstable USB connection or the device not being in the correct mode.
One possible solution is to disable the “autosuspend” feature on the host machine. You can try running the following command on your Ubuntu host:
Then, put the Jetson device in Recovery Mode again and try flashing it using SDK Manager.
Additionally, you can try using the command-line flashing method instead of SDK Manager. You can find the instructions for this in the Quick Start guide for Jetson-AGX-Orin.
If you are still facing issues, please provide the SDK Manager logs, terminal output, lsusb output, and a screenshot of the error for further assistance.
Note: The provided context does not cover all possible causes of this issue, and further troubleshooting may be required.

This is a custom carrier board from Seeed Studio and is not supported by our official ISO or SDK Manager.
