NV 16GMEM SOM SKU not working with our 8G IMAGE

Hi,
We got Xavier NX with DDR :16G SOM recently and try to use the following command to flash our image which is flashed and booted successfully from 8G SOM befor,but if we flash bootloader and rootfs images with one command:

Linux_for_Tegra/tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --external-device nvme0n1p1 -c
tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_external.xml --showlogs ms-nx-dvt2-nvme internal

our system stops at bootloader logo on monitor screen when startup.

However, the system startups and runs normally after we flash bootloader image using command separately:

Linux_for_Tegra/tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh -c tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_external.xml --showlogs ms-nx-dvt2-nvme internal.
and we want know what the difference is between these 2 commands when they are flashing bootloader images.

Are you want to flash image on external NVMe?
If yes, please try below command:

$ sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --external-device nvme0n1p1 -c ./tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_nvme.xml -S 8GiB --showlogs  jetson-xavier nvme0n1p1

You can change the -S APP size. This size cannot be bigger than ‘num_sectors’ * ‘sector_size’ specified in the flash_l4t_nvme.xml and must be small enough to fit other partitons in the partition layout.

What we described above may not be very clear,we flash NX with the first command, this command will flash qspi and external nvme in one step,right? The serial port shows that it has been flashed successfully and can enter the system ,but the monitor screen connected to the NX stops at bootloader logo.

However, after we use the second command flash qspi again, the system will start and run normally,And we found there is a small difference when they generate bpmp dtb (Linux_for_Tegra/tools/kernel_flash/images/internal/tegra194-a02-bpmp-p3668-a00_sigheader.dtb.encrypt) encryption after that we compare twice flashing qspi process.

Can it be considered that the existing flash method does not add the relevant parameters of 16GB to its module list?

There should be no different between two commands for generating the qspi payload.
If you don’t mind, can we get the flash logs for two different commands?
After you flash the qspi with the second command, does the device boot into NVMe?

It seems that you are already able to flash your device, so if there is any additional help you need, please comment.
We also support a flow to generate qspi image and NVMe image separately then flash if you need. This is an example in README_initrd_flash.txt that can be tailor to your usage.


Example 2: In this example, you want to boot Jetson Xavier NX SD from an
attached NVMe SSD. The SD card does not need to be plugged in. You can also
apply this if you don't want to use the emmc on the Jetson Xavier NX emmc.

First step: Put the device into recovery mode, then generate qspi only images
for the internal device:
$ sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --no-flash jetson-xavier-nx-devkit-qspi internal

Note: The board name given here is not jetson-xavier-nx-devkit or
jetson-xavier-nx-devkit-emmc so that no SD card or eMMC images are generated.


Second step: Put the device into recovery mode, then generate a normal
filesystem for the external device:
$ sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --no-flash \
            --external-device nvme0n1p1 \
            -S 8GiB -c ./tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_nvme.xml \
            --external-only --append jetson-xavier-nx-devkit external

Third step: Put the device into recovery mode, then flash both images:
$ sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --flash-only

After we flash the qspi with the second command, the device boot into NVMe successfully.and thank you for providing us with this burning method.

Here are some new discoveries,

1.We used the original NX carrier board for the test,the system also stops at bootloader logo on monitor screen when startup if we use the first command to flash.

2.But if we modify function tegraflash_get_ramcode() in file Linux_for_Tegra/bootloader/tegraflash_internal.py, to assign the variable ramcode = 2,and the system startups and runs normally after we flash using the first command.
