Nvidia AGX Orin USB connection issues still remain after aplying the USB patch

Hi,

we are coming from the topic Nvidia AGX Orin USB connection issues - #21 by J.A.Garcia, as it was closed time ago.

After updating to the Jetpack 5.1.1 and applying the overlay_usb_35.3.1, the issue with the serial ports is still there.

As a summary of the issue, we are trying to connect a mmwave radar from Texas Instruments. The serial port works well when we run a program or send a configuration file to the device, but, when we try to send another configuration file (or just modifying de existing one), the serial port stop working and we can no longer connect any periferic (like mouse or keyboard), the only solution is rebooting the system. This only happen with the Nvidia AGX Orin Developer Kit. There is a more detailed explanation of the issue on the on the topic mentioned above.

Thanks in advance

Hi,
Please check
Jetson/L4T/r35.3.x patches - eLinux.org

[USB] nvidia-agx-orin-usb-connection-issues

And make sure you update the firmware successfully. You will see release version in dmesg print:

[ 8.389993] tegra-xusb 3610000.xhci: Firmware timestamp: 2023-02-10 03:48:10 UTC, Version: 80.05 release

Hi,

first of all, thanks for your reply. We checked the topics and version with the dmesg command (the printed text is shown below) but we could not be able to find a solution.

[7.953457] tegra-xusb 3610000.xhci: Firmware timestamp: 2023-02-10 03:48:10 UTC, Version: 80.05 release

Thanks

Hi,
The issue may be specific to the device. Please try to connect Orin developer kit to a USB hub with external power supply, and then connect to the device. See if it helps with external power supply.

Hi,

we tried it with the hub with external power supply but the issue is still there.

We also noticed that the issue is a little bit harder to replicate than it was in the previous version of the Jetpack (with USB hub and without USB hub). Now we can run the programm 2 or 3 times before the serial port dissapear.

Thanks

This is not specific to the device. The same issue when trying to work with Orange Cube + (pixhawk). I can connect to the device just on the first try. After I disconnect and connect again there is no transmission.

There is no update from you for a period, assuming this is not an issue any more.
Hence we are closing this topic. If need further support, please open a new one.
Thanks

Sorry for the late response, is this still an issue to support? Thanks
