Omiverse Issac Sim running on Ubuntu 18.04

Hi Nvidia,

I ran the Sim following this guide:
https://docs.omniverse.nvidia.com/robotics/text/Robotics_QuickStart.html#running-natively
then got the error:

Besides, it looks like I could not create a folder to upload assets after logging to the Nucleus server via the Web UI as in this guide:
https://docs.omniverse.nvidia.com/robotics/text/Robotics_QuickStart.html#nucleus-add-assets

Right-clicking does not give me a New Folder option so I guess I could only add it once opening IsaacSim. But yeah, I failed running the Sim itself as above.

Could you give some extra guidance? Seems like this file
‘/ISAAC/ISAAC_SIM/_build/target-deps/kit_sdk_release/_build/shaders/rtx/scenedb/SparseMemCopy.compute.hlsl’
does not exist.

Thanks!

Tad.

Hi, that error might be caused by unsupported graphics card or drivers. Please provide the output of nvidia-smi.

Yes, for this version, a new root folder can be created in the Isaac Sim application after connecting to the Nucleus server.

.

Does this mean I should have a new graphic card to run IsaacSim locally? :(

Yes, an RTX 2070 or higher is recommended but a minimum of RTX 2060 is required.

Yeah, thanks for your clarification!

Hi NVIDIA,

Now I got an RTX2080 card, but it looks like I am not even able to create Isaac folder inside IsaacSim, as in this video:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1feS-2WEmVVb2IxfV5omp6Cx3DsxwIJiB/view?usp=sharing

Thanks,

Tad.

Hi Tad. To create the root Isaac folder in Isaac Sim, you have to login as omniverse to connect to the Nucleus server with root permissions.

Hi Sheikh
What does it mean exactly login as an omniverse?

My IssacSim does not ask any specific username when I tried to connect.
Should I set OMNI_USER=omniverse, OMNI_PASS=omniverse?

The following video is showing my situation.

Yusuke

Hi Yusuke,

if you are using omniverse 2020.2

export OMNI_USER=omniverse
export OMNI_PASS=omniverse

then run
./_build/linux-x86_64/release/isaac-sim.sh

it will login as omniverse and then you can create isaac folder and upload assets.

im using:
GeForce RTX 2080 Super
cuda 11.1
nvidia driver 455.32

Thank you, dlan! It worked like a charm.
Now I can successfully make the Isaac directory.

Thanks @dlan. That’s the correct steps.

@yusuke_urakami, we have updated our docs with similar steps here.

Hello,

Welcome to Isaac Sim.
You need to have a RTX GPU to run Isaac Sim, RTX 2070, or RTX 2080 or higher .

Kindly,
Liila

i have the same error because of RTX2060, if i do not update my GPU , i can not launch isaacsim on RTX2060?

Yes. You’ll need an RTX card with at least 8GB of VRAM.
