Recommended camera for Jetson Orin Nano and Isaac ROS Nvblox

Is there an actively supported camera for running Isaac ROS Nvblox on a Jetson Orin Nano?

I started with an Intel Realsense D415 but quickly found out it is not supported by Nvidia. I then purchased an Intel Realsense D435i as it was listed as one of two supported cameras but have been unable to get it working.

In my efforts to debug the issues, it appears Intel stopped supporting the Realsense cameras 3-5 years ago and most/all of the posts in the Nvidia forums end about that same time period. When I try the proposed solutions today, all too often packages that need to be installed no longer exist or don’t work, builds break due to missing files, etc. I even attempted to roll back to JetPack 5.1 as that seemed to be the only option to get it working but that doesn’t work either due to missing repos/packages/etc.

At this point, I’m nearly ready to give up. I’ve been searching trying to find someone saying they have had success with the current version of Orin Nano and JetPack 6.2 but have not found any success stories. What camera are the JetPack developers using? Is there one that still works?

hello benpeart,

please refer to… HAWK camera compatibility jetson orin nano developer kit

Thank you. I read that post but according to your comment in that thread the driver is “available for AGX Orin only” (not for Nano). That thread is from nearly 2 years ago so I thought maybe something had changed but when I searched this forum, I don’t see any mention of someone using that camera successfully. I also checked their web site and they still do not list drivers for the Nano anywhere I could find.

I’ve already purchased 2 cameras that didn’t work and as far as I can tell the HAWK camera isn’t supported either. Am I missing something? Is there no camera that supports JetPack 6.2 on the Nano for depth/Isaac ROS Nvblox?

hello benpeart,

please contact with Jetson camera partner for further supports.

In case someone else ends up here with the same question, I found a link to the list of camera partners in another thread. Hopefully I can find one that will work with the Nano.

I noticed that Intel is not listed as a Jetson camera partner. It would be great to get the documentation updated so that it long longer lists the Intel Realsense cameras as supported cameras so others don’t make the same mistake and buy one thinking it will work.
